ABOUT

The accompanying video for the song, shot by filmmaker Enya Belak Gupta, shines the spotlight on the ongoing prescription drug epidemic. Using sweets and neon colours it’s not hard to infer the message: that they are as prevalent as sweets.

Voice of Aiko: opening minds and hearts through the power of beautiful art.

Voice of Aiko is a creative collective of top musicians, filmmakers and artists joining forces to campaign for change – an artistic army on a mission!

Aiko’s first project ‘Prescription Dream’ sees founder musician Calista Kazuko collaborate with filmmaker Enya Belak to draw the spotlight on an ongoing prescription drug epidemic. In England alone there are an estimated 1.5 million people suffering from doctor-induced Benzo drug dependency and more than 1 million patients are taking dependence-forming drugs unnecessarily. Antidepressants are also a major problem and statistics show that roughly 50 Americans die from prescription painkiller overdoses every day.

In partnership with charities REST, MIND & APRIL, Aiko’s ‘Prescription Dream’ project is campaigning to raise awareness and open dialogue on this important issue. The campaign includes a series of musical workshops with Let’s All Create using art to help heal those who have been affected.

Voice of Aiko is grateful to be supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
